Clogs Are Cool

15 04 2010

When someone mentions ‘clogs’, you may think of the traditional Dutch shoe, and clog dancing. You may have your reservations and think that these shoes could never possibly be fashionable, but once again Alexa Chung makes the unfashionable look highly stylish. Not only did this picture convince me that clogs can look cool, it made me want a pair myself. Clogs are a big trend this spring, and the high street has many to choose from.

Here are some of my favourite clogs from the high-street:

Ollie 2 Part Wooden Clogs – Topshop

Carvela Krista Gladiator Clog Shoes – House Of Fraser,default,pd.html?cgid=319&cm_mmc=Affiliate-_-Linkshare-_-Linkbuilder-_-Null

Promise Leather Studded Clog – ASOS

Grannan Clogs – Aldo

Tan Stud Clogs – Next

What do you think of clogs and will you be wearing them this spring? Leave a comment and let me know!

Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer collection has arrived and I am loving it. There are some fabulous pieces – I’m especially lusting over the bags, and the swallow print is gorgeous! Of course, it being designer, it’s all ridiculously expensive, but hey, a girl can dream, right?

Low Heels Are Back

13 04 2010

An unusual trend this season,  kitten heels (low heels) are set to be shoe of the summer. It may be a sigh of relief for those who have long endured sky-high stillettos and painful platforms. Others may be unsure and not find low heels very attractive, but I’m pretty sure once you see some of the latest designer low heels you will be very impressed.

Here is a pick of some of the kitten heels available on the high street:

Carvela Acacia Kitten Heel Pumps – House Of Fraser,default,pd.html?cgid=319&cm_mmc=Affiliate-_-Linkshare-_-Linkbuilder-_-Null

Ginger Rodgers Black Leather – Office

Irregular Choice Mini Magic Floral Low Heels – Schuh

Juliet Laser Cut Shoes – Topshop

The Maxi Dress

7 04 2010

Daffodils are in bloom, Easter has come and gone, and the clocks have gone foward, could it possibly mean that Spring is here? Well, here in England the weather might not show it but it’s time to say goodbye to all your favourite winter clothes for a few months, and say hello to your Spring/Summer wardrobe!

One of my favourites has always been the Maxi Dress, it’s versatile and fashionable!  Wear with gladiator sandals and a slouchy bag  during the day, or heels and a shrug for a night-time look!

If you’re petite, go for a more structured dress that sits close to your body – you want to avoid looking swamped by the dress. Smaller prints also look best on petite girls, and for extra height wear with wedges or high heels.
If you’re a larger, more body-conscious woman, maxi-dresses are great for hiding large hips or thighs. Go for large prints to flatter your figure. For big-busted women choose maxi dresses with large straps or a halter neck, avoid thin straps as these will make your bust look bigger.

Here are some of my favourites:

Impact Viva Hula Maxi Dress – Warehouse

Lace Strappy Maxi Dress – Topshop

Paisley Maxi Dress – New Look

Aspen Woven Maxi Dress – Missoni

Woven Mix Twist Back Maxi Dress – ASOS Africa
